Placing Map Markers

Place circles or map markers and text on reference and thematic maps to highlight important areas and routes or to mark destinations. For example, if you wish to mark your house on a map, you can select the color and size of the map marker and click where your house is located on a map. Clear and delete map markers and text to return the map to its original state.

Place a Map Marker

1. From the map side menu, select map markers, $images\ebx_1856827024.gif$

2. In the map marker tools, click the map marker point, $images\ebx_1666266046.gif$ .

3. Click the color picker button $images\ebx_-6885664.gif$ to choose the map marker color.

The color window displays.

4. Slide the color bar up and down to change colors.

5. Use the shade selector to click in the left side window and select a shade.

6. Preview the color in the preview window and click OK to select the color.

The color window will disappear and the selected color displays next to the color picker button.

7. In the size drop down menu, select the size of the marker. The bigger the number the bigger the marker.

8. Click a spot on the map to add the map marker

Place Text on Map

1. From the map side menu, select map markers, $images\ebx_1856827024.gif$

2. In the map marker tools, click the text marker button, $images\ebx_-938503808.gif$ .

3. Type text to display in the text box

4. Select the text color

5. Click the color picker button, $images\ebx_-6885664.gif$ to choose the text color

The color window displays.

6. Slide the color bar up and down to change colors.

7. Use the shade selector to click in the left side window and select a shade.

8. Preview the color in the preview window and click OK to select the color.

The color window disappears and the selected color displays next to the color picker button.

9. Click a spot on the map to add the text

The map holds up to 20 markers of a single type and markers stay the same size when the map scale changes.

Undo Last Map Marker or Text

1. From the map side menu, select map markers, $images\ebx_1856827024.gif$

2. In map marker tools, click the undo last marker button, $images\ebx_-153203126.gif$ .

The map displays with the last created map marker or text removed.

Clear All Map Markers or Text

1. From the map side menu, select map markers, $images\ebx_1856827024.gif$

2. In map marker tools, click the clear all markers button, $images\ebx_-1419900849.gif$

The map displays all map markers or text removed.
