Search for a location on a map and re-center or highlight that location. Reference maps and thematic maps have the ability to find and reposition the map to a location. For example, if you wished to see the area surrounding Springfield, Ohio, you could use a Springfield address to reposition the map, search for Springfield in the geography search box or type in the latitude and longitude of downtown Springfield. Reposition Map with Latitude and Longitude
1. In the map side menu, click find a location,
to display the find a location menu.
2. In the find by drop-down menu, select address

3. In the Find a Location search box enter one of the following:
▪ Street address and city, then select a state from the drop-down menu
▪ City and state
▪ ZIP code
For example,
▪ Street Address - 210 Maple Street
▪ City - Cincinnati
▪ State - Ohio
4. Click the Go button and the map re-centers on that location.
1. In the map side menu, click find a location,
to display the find a location menu.
2. In the find by drop-down menu, select place name

3. In the geography search box, enter a geography name
▪ Example: martinsburg
4. Click the GO button and geography results display under the search results section
5. Click a search result to re-center the map on that location
Right click a search result to have the option to highlight the geography on the map.
1. In the map side menu, click find a location,
to display the find a location menu.
2. In the find by drop-down menu, select latitude/longitude

3. In the latitude box, enter a latitude value
▪ Example: 39.9
4. In the latitude direction drop-down menu select N for North or S for South
5. In the longitude box, enter a longitude value
▪ Example: 83.8
6. In the longitude direction drop-down menu select W for West or E for East
7. Click Go and the map will re-center on the location
You may encounter some of the following errors relating to finding a location and repositioning a map.
Enter a latitude value between 0 and 90 and a longitude value between 0 and 180
Address not found
FactFinder was not able to locate the address you entered. Please verify the address you entered and try again
Please enter a city
Please enter a city and state OR a valid ZIP code
You have selected one or more geographies that have no data
Deselect a geography and try again.
